"At the hospital, Adam waits for Brooke to visit with Aunt Phoebe. Tad, Jamie and Babe wonder why he is there...since Brooke does not need him. He replies that if they care so much about her, then where were they when Maria was shredding her apart the night before. Jamie leaves to check on Brooke. Tad and Babe discuss her concerns about Little Adam's new Nanny. Tad tries to assure her that Di seems legitimate. Adam agrees, since he spoke with her former employer. Babe is not convinced. Brooke and Jamie come back and sadly tell them that Phoebe has passed away. She tearfully tells Tad that she regained consciousness long enough to tell them goodbye, that she loved everyone and that Langley was waiting for her. Brooke notices that Adam is still there and asks Jamie to make some phone calls for her. When he leaves, she escorts Adam into a private room to talk. Babe and Jamie return from making the calls and ask Tad why Brooke is still talking to Adam. Tad tells them that he doesn't know and that he has to leave to go do something. When he gone, Babe consoles Jamie as he reminisces about Phoebe. He confides in her that Phoebe told him to grab hold of any surprises that come his way. He wonders what she meant by that. Brooke asks Adam why he hasn't checked himself in yet. Adam tells he that he's fine and she is overreacting. She gets angry that he is making excuses and tells him that she will not visit him when he ends up in the hospital. As she breaks down in tears, she reminds him that she has already lost two people within months of each other and she doesn't want to lose a third. She says that she'll only give a damn if he gets some help. They leave the room and she tells him to get in touch with her later. He expresses his sympathies over Phoebe's death. Brooke leaves with Babe and Jamie.

Ryan walks in to a bar and Ethan, who has been drinking, calls him over. He tells Ryan that he was right about his warnings of Kendall and her revenge has no expiration date. Ryan replies that Kendall might have baggage, but she deserves better. Ethan tells him about Kendall sleeping with J.R. Ryan informs him that he'll get no sympathy from him because Ethan became a jackass after he inherited Cambias. He goes on to say that he gets why Ethan hates Zach, but does he expect to fight him forever. He then tells Ethan that if he wants Kendall back, he will have to convince her that she is more important than his money.

David and Di are walking through the park. Di explains how Babe recognized her and is insisting that she poses a threat to Little Adam. David asks if J.R. believed Babe and wonders why she is still worried when she tells him no. She expresses her concern that Babe could be right and she is putting Little Adam in danger. David tells her that he would not put his grandson in harm's way. He assures her safety by telling her that the grand jury in her ex's case has been dismissed and he has boarded a plane to the Far East. She is relieved to hear the news. David tells her to concentrate on J.R. and he'll worry about Babe. She admits that she is developing a soft spot for J.R. He is glad and tells her to do what it takes to gain his trust. He reminds her that he'll make her rich if she persuades J.R. to give Babe joint-custody.

Kendall lies in bed, fantasizing that Ethan is telling her that they are making a fresh start and Zach can have Cambias. She is startled when she realizes that J.R. is in bed next to her, not Ethan. He asks her if she is o.k. and does she have any regrets. She regains her composure and tries to assure him that she is fine. He asks for the truth. She replies that she likes to keep some thoughts to herself. He drops it and asks her to stay for breakfast. She agrees. He teases that he wants to be the best man at her wedding. She observes that what he really wants if for her to give him back Chandler Enterprises. He laughs and says that she's good. Later, they are eating breakfast on the veranda. She tells him that she'll marry Zach on her terms and he cannot be the best man. He insists on taking her on the honeymoon, at least. They are interrupted by Winifred, who informs them about Ethan's visit the night before. J.R. asks her how she feels about Ethan knowing they spent the night together. She acts as if she doesn't care and assures him that they are through. J.R. receives a phone call, informing him that he has been fired by Ethan. He shrugs it off, stating that Ethan won't be in control of Cambias much longer. He tells Kendall that Chandler Enterprises is Little Adam's birthright and asks her of she'll help him get it back. They are interrupted by Di, who has returned from a walk. J.R. introduces her to Kendall. After Di excuses herself, J.R. asks Kendall again if she'll help him. She tells him of course and then says that she has to go. Later, Di is sitting on the veranda having some tea. Tad walks up to her from behind and asks her why he feels like he knows her. J.R. returns to his room and thinks Kendall has changed her mind when he finds someone in his bed. As he climbs in, some strange girl starts to scream at him when she is awakened.

Maria wakes up from her stupor and is surprised to see Zach sitting by the bed. She grabs her head and asks why he is there. Then she starts to have flashbacks of the night before and is mortified. She tells him that she remembers saying awful things after accepting Edmund's award and she remembers leaving with Ethan. She realizes at that moment that she is in her underwear and lying in Ethan's bed. Zach assures her that nothing happened and that Zach asked Ethan to leave. She is embarrassed and admits to him that she wanted him...not Ethan. She is surprised that he came to her rescue. He replies that Ethan was using her to get back at him. She says that he is doing the same thing with Kendall. He tells her that he did not offer Kendall his bed, just a business deal. She wants to know what she did the night before. He tells her that she said awful things about herself and took the blame for everything. He says that she is not alone and that he has also made bad choices...especially with Ethan. She asks him if he is making the right choice now. Later, he has breakfast and a change of clothes delivered to Ethan's room for her. She is touched by the gesture. He jokes that he billed Ethan for everything. He tells her to eat something and to feel better as he starts to leave. She stops him and tells him how she appreciates the kindness he has showed to her after all that she has done. He leaves her and goes downstairs to the dining room. He is joined by Kendall, who jokes that she forgives him for his behavior the night before and tells him that she wants to marry him today."
