"David and Anna were lounging in bed reading the morning newspaper when Anna saw an announcement that Dixie's memorial service was being held that day. David decided he wasn't going. The best way to honor Dixie was to go to the hospital and work, he told Anna. Anna asked David if that is what he really wanted to do. He nodded in agreement. Anna told David that she was going to look at a Victorian house that was for sale. She saw it listed in the Real Estate section of the newspaper.
At the hospital David asked the nurse for the day's schedule and noticed that half of it was cancelled. The nurse told him Dr. Joe and some of the staff were given half the day off to attend the memorial service.
Dixie's memorial service was being held at the chapel at Wildwind. Edmund lit a memorial candle in her memory. Tad entered with Brooke, JR and Jamie. Tad noticed the daises and commented they were Dixie's favorite. JR brought a large size picture of Dixie to be placed on an easel for viewing. He asked Tad to place the picture for him. Tad gazed sadly at the picture.
The guests arrived at the chapel for the memorial service. Dr. Joe Martin arrived with Mia and Jake. Myrtle was accompanied by Opal, Bianca and Jackson. Liza and Adam entered the chapel. Liza embraced Tad as he asked her how is he going to get through the service. The minister asked those who wished to share memories about Dixie to come forward. Adam came forward first and shared his memories of Dixie. She had come to work for him and ended up giving him a son, JR. Adam told JR his mother loved him more than life and that he expected JR to pick up where Dixie left off. JR is to keep him an honest man.
Brooke came forward next. Dixie was a force to be reckoned with she said. She looked at JR and said he was the center of her world. Brooke also spoke of Dixie's desire to have a child with Tad and accepted Jamie as her own even though Brooke was his mother. Dixie had a big heart and because of that our hearts are full. Brooke placed the picture Dixie had left for Tad in Switzerland upon the easel. It was the sonogram of Baby Kate. She returned to her seat, touching Tad on the arm as she passed by.
Opal walked to the front of the chapel to talk about Dixie. As she spoke, a voice cried out from the chapel entrance, "Stop!" David entered the room as Tad stood to look at him. "You're not talking about the real Dixie," exclaimed David. He agreed she was sweet and kind but she wasn't perfect. She was a wounded, flawed, and bled from the heat like everyone else, David continued. God knows how much I loved her. David shared his memories of Dixie, recalling she was a pale beauty. She was a true steel magnolia. Her honesty was what I loved most. David looked at Tad and told him he was sorry for the pain he caused him and his family. I know Dixie belongs to you but for one brief moment she was mine. He then left the chapel and returned to the hospital.
Tad stood to remember Dixie. He regretted hurting the people he loved the most, especially Dixie. She was always first in my heart. She was my life. I feel so lost without her, he laments. JR sat quietly, tears flowing down his face. Tad continued. I'll never get a chance to hold my baby girl. Tad went on he was angry at himself because the person I loved the most paid the highest price because of my fear I would lose Dixie. He felt guilty for making Dixie leave her home so she could follow her heart and have the baby. I am so sorry and will always be. Tad began to softly cry. Brook came forward to console him and as they embraced Tad flashed back over his life with Dixie. The fun times, their engagement-his proposal in the chicken suit, the trip to NY and their dancing in the hotel room in the white hotel robes and finally to the star necklace Tad gave her just before she left for Paris.
The service ended and goodbyes were said. Tad told Brooke he made it because of her. He encouraged her to spend some time with Edmund. Brooke looked around the chapel but Edmund had disappeared. He had gone to the family crematorium. He walked over to Maria's resting place and placed his hand on the memorial plaque, touching her name.
Roger entered the restaurant and joined Leo at a table. Leo told him to get rid of his side dish at least until after the wedding. Roger promised he'll break off his relationship that day.
Simone and Greenlee looked through bridal magazines at Greenlee's condo. Greenlee told Simone her wish is coming true. Her mother, Mary Smythe, was coming to her wedding and that her father and mother were going to get back together. Simone hid her surprised reaction from Greenlee upon hearing this news. Simone suddenly developed a headache and told Greenlee she was going to her condo to rest. Greenlee wondered aloud to Simone she thinks their friendship is one way. " I tell you everything about myself, Simone, but you tell me nothing about yourself." Before Simone can leave Greenlee's condo, Roger and Leo came through the door. Roger asked if they have their charge cards ready to go shopping. Hearing about Simone's headache, he offered to help ease the pain but she refused. Leo asked Simone how the writing project is coming along. Simone replied it won't be written because it is a dead end as she looked at Roger. Roger looked surprised. Leo and Greenlee left to go to the other room to look at the wedding invitations that had arrived from the printer. This gave Roger an opportunity to question Simone about not writing the book about Proteus. Simone angrily told Roger I hope you have a nice life with your wife and turned to leave the condo, slamming the door behind her. Roger was stunned.
Greenlee and Leo returned to the living room. Greenlee told Roger that Revlon is paying for her wedding and that he will play a prominent role as father of the bride. As such, Revlon was paying him for his image. She handed him a generous check from Revlon. After accepting the check, Roger left the condo.
Greenlee asked Leo how was his workout. She had noticed he had left his gym bag in the closet. She asked where was he really. Leo mumbled some excuse. Greenlee changed the subject and decided she was going to give Simone some of her prescription headache medication she used when dealing with loony Laura. She would use her passkey to let herself into Simone's condo and leave the medication by her bed while Simone was resting.
Roger immediately went to Simone's condo and begged her to let him in so he can explain about Mary. Simone angrily opened the door and let Roger in. He tried to embrace her but she demanded he not touch her. Roger denied he and Mary were getting together. It is Greenlee's illusion he told Simone. He tried to persuade Simone to believe him and that he only truly loves her. Simone didn't buy it at first but her emotions overcame her as she and Roger embraced and madly kissed.
Leo used Greenlee's master key to enter Simone's condo to bring her the headache medication from Greenlee. He gasped as he saw Roger and Simone kissing and embracing, half dressed, on her sofa.
Back at Greenlee's condo, Greenlee, talking on her cell phone to the printer, demanded the printer redo the invitations. The doorbell rings. She ended the call to answer the door. She muttered to herself, thinking it is Leo, that he needed to wear the key around his neck. She opened the door and exclaimed, "Mommy." Mary Smythe has arrived.
Anna rushed from the elevator at the hospital. Seeing David she asked him why hadn't he answered his pager. She told him about the house she had looked at. It has a garden, lots of rooms and a willow tree in the back. So if you want to go for it, the SUV and the babies, I will too, she told David. David, pleased, holds her face in his hands as he began to kiss her. Suddenly, JR burst into the hospital hallway and admonished David. "You just couldn't leave Dixie alone even at the memorial, he shouted. JR then slugged David."
